Notes from Governance Committee

Those attending: Kat Davis for a few minutes, Diane Walker, Sharon Porter, Arlene Young.

Agenda items are: Signature gathering, reschedule training of team captains and content of the January meeting.

By March 8 we need to have 1800 signatures or the feasibility committee will postpone the election.

January meeting: We need to elect four officers and at least 3 at-large members of the Governance Committee.  Suggestions were:
     Chair:  Diane Walker
     Vice-chair:  Dorothy Waln (Sharon will contact)
     Secretary:  Arlene Young
     Treasurer:  Donna Patterson or Richard Hutchison (Arlene will contact)
     At large members:       Nan McDaniel (Arlene will contact)
                    Laurie Hayes-Kotter (Sharon will contact)
                    Anne Rodriguez (Arlene will contact)
                    Glenna Sams
     Sharon will contact Maureen Smolkowski to see if she can suggest other Elgin residents who might be willing to be petition captains or if she has any interest in the Governance Committee.
     
     At the informational meeting on January 26 at 5:30 Diane will talk about officer duties.
     Team captains will talk about their plans for signature gathering.
     Kat will review the gathering of signature petitions
     Sharon will explain the voting booths and book talks and has a sign up sheet for people who could give book talks and read to children at the various libraries.
